Omnidirectional connectivity for the Andean bear (Tremarctos ornatus) across the Colombian Andes

ContextConserving or restoring connectivity is a common objective of landscape-scale conservation initiatives. However, precise species occurrence movement data to inform validate spatial models are often lacking.ObjectivesOur objectives were (1) produce the first approximation country-wide for Andean bears (Tremarctos ornatus) in Colombia and (2) demonstrate novel approach model validation which uses publicly available web social media records flagship species.MethodsWe used general knowledge about bear habitat associations indices ecological integrity construct resistance surface across Colombian Andes.
